Loose stuff

Death of social democracy. The state of the Dutch social democratic party PvdA after the death of former leader and prime minister Wim Kok. His presidency marked the turn of ‘the left’ to neo-liberalism by deregulating the banks and cutting social security. In his words at the time: “laying off the ideological feathers”.

A local food-store inspired these designs to advertise home-made (and yummy) french fries.

Covid-scare 2020. And this is how corona literally hit the Netherlands. The lockdowns, the social distancing, and even curfews, created lasting negative effects on the health and psychological state of the population and were totally ineffective. During the pandemic, there was in the Netherlands NO government ADVICE like ventilation, improving the immune system with vitamin D, zinc and seleneum. And while outdoor excercise was even restricted even though scientific proof was abundant that outdoors there was hardly any infection possible. There wére repressive measures like high fines, mandatory mask-wearing, home-arrests and QR-codes instead. But foremost it was a guilt-trip for the many, and also a loss of friendships and deconstruction of social and economic life. All of this spectacle costed the Dutch society 80 billion euros, money that has now – five years later – to be scraped of healthcare, social security and pensions. The devastating economic effects of the lockdowns were illustrated by the loss of over 400 million jobs and small enterprizes that had devastating consequences for the poor in the world. And the ultrarich? They got exponentially richer, cashing in on especially pharmaceutical investments and surveillance technology.

Guilt trip.
